FREE Work Group for A-level Maths teachers to explore skills coming through from KS3&KS4 in light of developments with Teaching for Mastery

About this event

North-East Hants and Surrey Maths Hub and the AMSP are running a FREE Work Group for A-level Maths teachers to explore the skills coming through from KS3 and KS4 in light of developments with Teaching for Mastery, to support Covid recovery and how we can adapt pedagogy as a result. Participants will develop knowledge of the 5 Big Ideas of Teaching for Mastery and how these can be used to address A Level content. The programme will also include lesson planning and reflections on current schemes of work.

The programme will consist of 4 sessions at various locations and with some online sessions via Zoom as follows:

  • Session 1 : NEW START DATE THURSDAY 2ND DECEMBER: 1.00 pm to 4.30pm NOW Online via Zoom
  • Session 2 : 27th Jan 3:45 – 5:45pm Online via Zoom
  • Session 3 : 7th Feb 3:45 – 5:45pm Online via Zoom
  • Session 4 : 28th April 10.00 - 4pm at Glyn School, The Kingsway, Ewell, Epsom KT17 1NB

Participants are expected to attend all 4 sessions and to complete gap tasks between sessions.

All registrants will be required to join an NCETM Basecamp online community for this Work Group in order to access resources and information. Please ensure you tick the box to confirm this when you register.

As with all our Free or Funded Maths Hub Work Groups and programmes, we are funded by the Department for Education and therefore have to prioritise State Funded schools.

North-East Hants and Surrey (NEHS) Maths Hub is led by St John the Baptist School, Woking and runs a large programme of  Work Groups and events throughout the year with the aim of improving Maths teaching, leadership and professional learning practice to transform Maths education.

The Maths Hubs Network is the collaborative partnership of the 40 Maths Hubs across England, supported and facilitated by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). It is part of the wider development of school-led, system leadership of education in England.
